Lovely old bus and fair play to you for tackling it. Wouldn't fancy paying the insurance on it at your age though keep up the good work, the p38's are often overlooked, so it's nice to see one having some TLC spent on it

just a small/stupid question lol

When you replace door handles do you need a separate "new" key?
No, you can use the original key. On my last P38 there was a fault in the BECM which recurred constantly for the previous owner thanks to a leaking heater matrix. I used universal actuators and connected them to the rear doors, which are less prone to faults. For some reason LR decided to drive the rear locks directly from the BECM, whereas the front ones are controlled by serial data through the door outstations which is where a lot of the faults come from.

For as long as i can remember i have always wanted to go to Monte-Carlo the plan with this car is to fix it up in the coming years so i may undertake this epic adventure....

Naive wish/adventure?

Do i want to give it a bash??

Hell yh!!

Incidentally the metallic blue is called Monte Carlo blue metallic!

That's a fantastic plan!!!! When you've something like that in mind, it's a great motivator.

Are you going to do any particular mods.

I love those big motors.

Cheers,

Cooks

Quite a mundane update..

I've been trawling ebay looking for some genuine Landrover Mats to go in the rear..

Originally she had a normal Mats however they have long since disappeared..

Looking through ebay £15 later and i have these genuine LR RR Rubber mats..

They were in brilliant condition however i spritzed them with some AG vinyl and rubber care to make them shine!

This is the car before...

And after a light clean and the new mats..

Just need a set for the front now lol..

Just done some simple pre-restoration cleaning/painting..

The intake manifold has always been a bug bare of mine..

I've tried to tidy it up in the past..

Before.

In this quick blow over i had forgotten most of the intake manifold and the throttle body lol

After..

I this painting session i managed to do the "bananas"

Hopefully i'll rip this engine apart to do a complete recon of all parts..

Unfortunately this is as good as it gets while it's all together!

Just done some polishing of the MC blue paintwork, pretty mundane update..

Managed to do the roof which is a first, my god it was disgusting..

This MER polish is pretty good and has lifted quite a few contaminates out of the paint..

feels less like sandpaper now..
