Will members support...A Good Cause? Raffle Starts in 48 hrs

PRIZE RAFFLE Charity Fundraiser- now up and running in Detailing Chat- see separate thread http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ghlight=raffle

So I was sitting in the sunshine on my remote windy island, grumbling about my aches and pains and my 30 years of suffering with PMT (Post Marital Trauma) and suddenly realised I have got it pretty good at present. My health condition is pretty much under control and both my daughters are in full-time employment - Hey both children in full-time work in the UK is something to celebrate these days!
I remembered a few members here have had it tough with mental health issues recently were able to share brief details with our community. At long last MH issues are no longer considered to be something to be hidden away and bringing awareness that 30% of the population will suffer from these issues at least once during their life.
So I'm gauging whether members will support a fund raiser if I supply/source a product to be auctioned/raffled in aid of either a local support group or an individual? It's your forum so I'm happy to go with the flow... What you think?

That’s a very nice gesture and I’d certainly be willing to participate in auction / raffle for a good cause.

I suppose question is who / what is cause and who decides or is it down to the winner to choose the cause ?

Was thinking maybe the forum could decide on both the prize and the recipient and maybe the good cause could set up a gofundme page to keep things transparent

Realise everyone has been making the most of the good weather in the UK and not "online" recently - but any suggestions? Maybe £1 per ticket for a chance to win a nice raffle prize?
Will happily ship prize abroad if not too bulky..

I think it's a good idea I've entered a few where you paid a couple of pound for a ticket and they were drawn at random after so many had sold. A common one is the lottery bonus ball or powerball where you pay a couple of pound for a number then once all numbers are sold the next lottery draw is the number that wins.

Only issue IIRC Jay at Obsession Wax did something similar on here and there was a bit of feedback with people quoting about gaming laws etc or similar. Can't remember the full circumstances and I'm not convinced it was for charity either but the thread got locked. Here was the original thread

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=396632

Hopefully if its a charity raffle it wont hit those problem.

Good luck whatever happens and as I said I think it's a good idea and I'd be up for it

I've also received a PM from one of the mods suggesting I check with Whizzer- This thread was merely a precursor to gauge volume of support but PM sent this morning anyway.

SOoooo...we got the green light, plenty of views but not many affirmatives so, how can we get more people on board? Would peeps want a different good cause, or do do it and take a chance?

Great stuff.

I think if you’re sourcing / supplying etc, then you choose a cause that benefits, but with a caveat that the winner can choose a different one if they really want ?

Think it could be easier than trying to put it to a vote with lots of options and either not being to agree or someone not participating because they don’t want that cause...
