Floor sanding

Can anyone recommend someone who can floor sand (parquet floor) near heathrow? Thanks

Sorry, no.

Most flooring/carpet companies will have someone on their books if you ask.

It's a filthy job but easy enough to DIY if you get the machine from HSS for a weekend. Even I've done it without breaking anything.

And yet get to get high on the chemicals when you varnish the floor!

Get yourself a belt sander and have a go yourself.

Be CAREFUL with a belt sander though

They really don't take long to rip through the wood and you could end up making it really uneven if your not careful.
A circular orbital with a higher grit paper may give you more control. If you could get one which has a Hoover suction for the dust extraction even better.

The only issue with an orbital sander is the amount of vibration, it very quickly starts to hurt your hands, arms and ears.

Or maybe I'm just getting old

I use them all the time at work so I'm probably used to it now

Also have a set of anti vibration gloves similar to the ones I use when I'm machine polishing.

i want it to look good i.e. not a self DIY job lol so would rather pay for it to be done properly.
