Abarth 595 Competizione

Well I wasn’t going to do a project thread as I wasn’t planning on modifying my new car, but I’ve now done a few cosmetic changes, and have some bigger plans for the future, so thought I’d get one started.

I picked up my brand new Campovolo Grey Abarth 595 Competizione on 13th December after selling my highly modified Fiesta ST. On the test drive the Abarth was just so much fun, it’s a quirkly little car, and I love how rare they are. So I eventually went for one after debating over the Abarth or the much more common MK7 Fiesta ST.

When I collected her from the dealer:

I literally had the wheels off the day I got it home, to get on a coat of Gyeon Rim. The wheels were always the problem area on my fiesta, so knew I wanted to get the new ones properly protected from day one. The body has been Wetcoated over the winter, and now that the weather is nice, I will hopefully get a full proper detail with machine polish and test out some CanCoat.

Some pics with her at home:

My first little mod was upgrading the DRL bulbs to some PIAA ones. The new ones look much whiter than standard and much better when you are running just the DRLs.

Before on left, after on right:

Both fitted, looks much whiter than before:

Next, I ordered some Team Heko wind deflectors. After debating on a set of these for my fiesta for literally years and only fitting some 9 months before I sold it, it’s one of the first things I’ve done to the Abarth. There is a lot of wind noise in the car and these do help to reduce that a bit. I also think they look pretty good too.

The latest thing, some engine bling I fitted during the week, with some help from the husband. I swapped out the standard black plastic induction hose for a red Forge Silicone item. It wasn’t cheap by any means, especially when it doesn’t really do anything. However, it brightens up the engine bay, and potentially makes for better air flow, but really, it’s for show.

Before:

After:

Tomorrow, I am booked for a power run at Hayes Engineering in Kent to see what power the little beast is putting out in standard form. I’ve got some more plans in the pipework, so wanted a ‘before’ run for comparison. Will post result afterwards.

The Competizione and Tourismo are both 160BHP.

The Competizione has a Monza exhaust which is quite a bit louder than the Tourismo one.
