No and I think the caution you have is probably why not - knowing my luck I'd pay (think I have) drive off and have Mr happy Policeman waiting for me at home...

Think I'll stick with wandering in to the shop and actually paying

I use the BP app whenever I can - it's quite good once it's setup. It won't let you fill up until it's checked your card and when you finish it automatically charges the card. I always drive straight off without checking!

Can't comment re the Esso app.

Never used either, but the ironic part is, I was in an ESSO station the other day and there is a poster on the pump advertising the app and saying how simple it is to use, but directly under it was a notice saying you cannot use a mobile device within 10 mtrs of the pump.

So my query is, how do you pay at pump using an app on a device your not allowed to use?

You’re supposed to use the app in the car, through the window before you get out, and after you get back in.

Until they concede on phones around pumps, it’ll never take off.

Pay at pump is good enough for me and most people; going into the shop is only if I need some milk or bread on my way home. Or if I want to spend my MPG saving on a bar of overpriced something I don’t need.

I used to collect all the points, and be brand loyal to Shell or Esso or Supermarkets; it’s all pointless and worth nothing in your pocket in the end.

I've found a lot of "pay at pump" facilities, around here anyway, have been removed, not sure why?
