Evo 8

My mind is pretty well made up on my next car. It's gotta be an Evo 8, heard such good things about them and potential for real power.

The guy I bought the cossie from ranted and raved about his. What I wanted to know is if there are any things I should look out for on them? Common faults?

Insurance wise, are they all considered grey imports?

Are there any specialist garages in the London or south east area that could look after the regular services and tuning?

Do an insurance quote, I would say - they are ridiculous!

I want one too, but I'm going to get a DC5 instead!

Remember about servicing costs!

Great cars - more I see of them the more I like.

A place in bucks called Autotorque specialise in these and offer very resonable maintenance

Yeah did a quote and it was the same as a monaro 6.0 @ £1500.

How is it my cossie is more powerful, worth more, easier to steal and costs half that to insure??

MADevelopments are in Maidenhead. What Mark Shead doesn't know about Evo's isn't worth knowing. One of the most respected Evo tuners in the country.

Things to look out for - make sure all the AYC lights come on when ignition is switched on and then go off again once the car is running. AYC problems (as with many problems on evos) can be expensive.

Insurance wise - you do get UK Evo 8's.

6's and before are all regarded as Imports (even the official Ralliart "UK" cars (just to confuse matters)

Have a read on the MLR and you'll find out anything you need :-)
