E86 coupe doesn’t have fibre optic stereo. Only applicable to early E85 roadsters with DSP option.

I did realise to clamp the cupholder. They are still a bit rubbish.

I'm already on the Z4 forum.

I had read in advance that the basic stereo setup was the easiest to upgrade. I didn't get to hear the upgraded sound system to see if it was good enough. It still would lack modern features.

There isn't enough Z4C to be specific about options and have an eye on the price.

You'd be surprised how many people didn't realise the arms push in.

I've been using the Z4 most of the week. Tonight I was out in the Clubby.

Never before have I noticed how comfortable, quiet, smooth and refined the Mini was.

It's now like sitting in a double decker. The gearbox and clutch now lack any feeling.

Kerr you sold the 235i? as I though you would have got fun in it?

With the weather here of late you can’t be bothered doing anything

Wish I hadn't. The replacement won't be here for a while and the Z4 has now gone belly up.

It's an older car, but a few errors were cropping up. Light warnings, the stability control kicking in for no reason etc.

The one that was most concerning was a tinny metallic rattle started to appear under load and lifting off. It was at the same point in the rev range every time. My fault code reader was pulling up faults that didn't sound good.

I took it to Bavarian yesterday and they backed up what I found. There is issues with the Vanos system, lights and the ABS rings need replaced. The bearings for the radiator fan are grumbling too.The bill could be rather large if worst case scenario and even best case isn't pocket change.

I gave the garage I bought it from a call, they didn't respond to my emails about it last week, but they were quick to offer a refund when I phoned. I did offer the chance to repair, but they were offering a quick refund and didn't even want to see Bavarian's report.

Now I've got to take the car back South and organise something very quickly. Not a good situation to be in and I'm now wishing I kept the M235i until at least the Z4 was proven. We've got the Clubman, but we can't share for long.

Despite the aggravation, it sounds like you are best shut of it - no doubt the dealer will push it back through auction house so its someone else's problem

To be fair it's an 11 year old car. A brand new car should never arrive damaged. A used car will often have issues.

I won't buy a new Merc when all the local support is Arnold Shark.

That's the thing with used cars. A lot of people pass cars on as they're having issues. A dealer picking them up should know they've got some things to check over and iron out prior to sale. They have profit to sort things when they aren't right.

They wanted to call an end to this one quickly though.
