Which polish before Lusso?

Hi all,

I'm picking up a new used car soon. It is swirled and I'll need to polish it. I'd really like to use my Lusso revitalizing creme as its a dark grey car and I think it looks great. Does it matter what polish I use under the Lusso? Its my understanding that there are no abrasives in the Lusso and so it won't be able to deal with swirls. But could it fill them?

I have an orbital sander that I use with polish pads if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Lusso is a pre-wax cleaner so it could well fill some of the very light swirls and provide a good base for your choice of LSP. If you are planning on polishing (or even compounding if required) the paint, give it a good wipe down with an IPA solution before applying the Lusso and you should have a great finish ready for your LSP.

Thanks. So any polish will do as long as I wipe down with IPA? I think the swirls are quite heavy.

What size is your backing plate a good finishing polish like KochChemie m2 01 Antihollowgramm and a polishing pad will be a good start, then a panel wipe down to remove any oils, if your happy with the finish go straight to your LSP, but if not then use your polish.

Its 6"
ok thanks I'll have a look.

If I just want to fill and remove light swirls, would something like lime prime be ok? I'm a bit scared of abrasives.

It's the same as lime prime, it to has abrasives in it. It's the pad selection is the one that really makes the difference
