Vauxhall Vectra Daily - Winter Project (Pic Heavy)

Hi guys,

Here is my recently acquired 2004 Vectra for use during the winter months whilst the MX5 is garaged until the spring. This car has been totally uncared for covered in moss and tar and heavily soiled interior. The car has covered 76k in the last twelve years by my father who longer needs it.

So plan is get it up to a good daily standard. Normal issues including, heater only working on full power, other electrics failing and water ingress, to name but a few.

So here's what I started with:

Managed to get some basics covered today:

- Wash 2 bucket method
- Carpets removed and steam cleaned
- De-greased door shuts and engine
- AG Intensive tar remover over all panel removing spots
- Iron X over body

- Unblock drain holes behind scuttle panel

Future plans include:

- Removal of factory fitted CD30 stereo and update with something a little more modern, any ideas?

- Full service

- Machine polish (Meguiars Compound/Polish/Wax)

- Identify and fix water ingress issues.

- Fix heater - Resistor pack ordered.

Thanks for looking

Small things make the big difference, it's looking good already. How tech savvy are you? Could get a double din head unit with nav, or get a facia and have a standard din head unit. Depending on if you like your music or not. Speaker upgrade is a must I found on my old 56 plate vectra.

Top updating there. My old Vectra came up beautifully after wetsanding and a machine polish.

Just after I sorted the suspension out, the DMF started to go (it was on 146k), so I sold it on. Pity, it was a good motor.

good under rated cars the Vectra c, water ingress 2 main areas , 1-bulk head drain as you found blocked causes fan resistor failure . 2 damp front and rear passenger areas caused by bulk head drain and also rear Ariel rubber seal , these are the most common causes.
Cd70 nav plenty on e-bay , good system also others on e-bay that fit with no problems .
log in to www.vectra-c .com a wealth of knowledge on there.
