Complete Exterior and Interior new car sealing job
Hi DW members, actually I promised to start posting about the Nanolex products, but we had a new car prep that included interior and exterior treatment with our sealants. Overall we used the Premium Glass sealant, the Basic Paint sealant, the Metal and Plastic sealant and the Premium Leather sealant. The car is a new BMW 120d with 690km on the odometer, the color is "Havana" and the paint was in perfect shape, probably because I told the owners to not let the dealership wash the car... the same with the leather interior, not a whole lot to clean except the driver's seat and the arm rest.
This was an official job for our detailing division, "Perfectly Clean" and performed by my cousin and me. The main aim was not really to prep the car, but to produce a microfiber towel that is extremely water-repelling and pretty useless, but still nice to watch: Some befores: ![]() ![]() ![]() then we went on to wash the car, using the 2 Bucket Method - Megs Hyper Wash, Brush and MF Glove ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then we took care of the interior (only the driver seat and the arm rest needed attention): ![]() ![]() ![]() After that we sprayed the seats with Nanolex Premium Leather sealant and worked the sealant into the leather using a microfiber towel: ![]() ![]() The next step was to give the whole exterior a Isopropanol wipedown, including the windows, where we used a special glass cleaner with micro-abrasives that is available from now on. Then we left for lunch leaving the car like this: ![]() After lunch we started sealing the windows and the exterior: ![]() the exhaust was polished with Megs NXT metal and then sealed with Nanolex Plastic/Metal Sealant ![]() Then the parts people like to forget: Door shuts etc. ![]() ![]() The final results: ![]() ![]() ![]() My favorite: reflections ![]() ![]() ![]() Interior ![]() ![]() ![]() all interior sealants we offer are 100% invisible playing around.... ![]() I planned to start a detailed thread about the Nanolex Premium Glass Sealant this weekend, so please check back! Comments and Questions are always welcome! Thanks for looking, Florian Last edited by Nanolex; 24-08-2009 at 03:53 PM. Reason: pics |

So this morning we assured that the sealants were applied properly and everything worked out well:
Water repelling is great Beading is as expected ![]() Leather was sealed effectively ![]() We guarantee the paint sealant to last at least 1 year, the same with window/windshield and leather (if the sealants are applied by a professional detailer or service). |

Looks interesting but i have some questions mate...Does the leather sealant ''stops'' leather from ''breathing''??If yes isn't that bad for the leather??
Also when you say that the sealant last at least a year, there is nothing that can remove it,for example fairy dish liquid at a brush car wash??? When you say that the guarantee counts only if the sealants applied by a professional what exactly do you mean??Do i have to come there for training, are you going to come in Cyprus to train me,or being a professional detailer is enough?? sorry if m questions sound stupid but i was always wondering in general when i hear those words from a lot of people for a lot of products.... |

The leather keeps its ability to breathe 100%, guaranteed.
We give our customers (=Perfectly-Clean detailing customers) some care references, means we tell them that if possble they shouldn't use a automated car wash and that they shouldn't use hard cleaners. But the 1 year is based on an estimate that the car is washed automated. What we usually find is that because of the dirt-repelling of the surfaces our customers see that the cleaning is much easier and can be done faster and they stop using the automated car wash anyway (especially when I show them some really bad micro-scratching pics). The Basic sealants durability was tested according to DIN-standards (German Industry Norms), the testing is relatively simple: A sealed piece of painted metal is fixed into a form, then this form is filled with water and a car-shampoo. Then an automated arm with a textile brush wipes over the surface 500 times. After that the contact angle is measured. Depending on the angle you can tell wether the sealant still works or not. Ours does. You don't need special training, if you are an experienced detailer there won't be any problems. The thing is that the surface prep prior to the sealing has to be done very carefully and flawlessly and the paint needs to be in a very good state in order for the sealant to last as long as we guarantee (older cars should be polished, paint defects should be removed as far as possible), and usually (I am not talking about the DW members) non-professionals have problems with that. I know it sounds confusing when you first read it, but I hope I answered your questions? Now I'm gonna go outside and take some pics in the rain...
