Review-Nanolex basic paint/wheel sealant.

I received my box of goodies from Florian on monday afternoon and have been eager to try them out, so had a little time this afternoon to give the Basic paint/wheel sealant a try out.

Obviously due to the nature of the Nanolex products with high durability and protection paramount, this will be an ongoing evaluation and todays exercise was mainly a test of application and overall impression of appearance.

With the accompanying literature and guide it appeared that preparation is key to the product longetivity, so firstly the test panel was washed & clayed,

Followed by Menzerna 106fa via the rotary,

Then a thorough wipe down with Isopropanol to remove any oils,

Now hopefully we have a perfect base from which to apply the sealant,

2 thin lines on a MF applicator, in hindsight this was probably too much as less is more type philosphy is needed, the product on the applicator was enough to cover 2/3rds of the rear tailgate, the consistency of the product was not dissimilar to collinite insulator wax,

Application was effortless and glided over the surface thinly, dried to a haze very quickly,

Left to cure as per the instructions for 5 mins and buffed,

It was hard to tell on white wether it added a huge amount to the finish and something that requires further testing on darker paint which I will do in due course, the main objective for me is what it can offer in regards to durability and protection- claimed 12 months/12000 miles.

Finish,

The guide recommends to keep the car dry for at least 1 hour after application and not to wash for 36 hours.

A short video of sheeting/beading properties.

So far I have been hugely impressed with the professionalism of Nanolex and quality of products and information provided, goods were sent from Germany on a friday and reached me by monday, all the products that Florian kindly sent me I will be doing reviews on and updating accordingly over time with my findings.
Hopefully Florian will be able to add to the thread and give me some pointers if my application is wrong.

I thought the same in comparison to IW, doesn't taste very nice though, managed to squirt it in my mouth while doing the all important smell test

Looking forward to trying my stuff out next week, got a nice steel grey M3 in on Monday that'll be getting the Premium applied

Wanted to try the premium out but the garage was colder than outside, need to give the heaters a blast for an hour first.

looking forward to a play with this and the fabric roof sealant

that water behaviour looks impressive - especially if it does it for 12 months!

Will you be able to remove the 'existing' fabric sealant that's already on your roof and do you want to dare try another sealant on your roof

I hope you have more luck with this one.....

Great review, thank you for posting your experience!

Application was perfect!

When I saw the pic of the Basic Sealant on the pad I was a little surprised, because usually it is more like a liquid, but I guess it was cold? Did you shake the bottle really good?

But after I saw the vid of the beading I was released, IMO you did it all right and it looks just like it should!

You are right with what you mentioned regarding the Premium - it has to be applied in a warm environment.

Thanks for sharing your results, I'm looking forward to hearing from your experiences,

Florian

Thanks for the comments Florian, yes I did shake for a fair while, it had been in the case in the rear of the van all day so like you mentioned maybe it was due to the cold but it had no effect on application, will try warming it a little beforehand next time.

It seems to sheet very fast. Like Bigpikle says, it will be very good if it can keep up that level of performance for 12 months. I look forward to seeing your reviews of the other products.
