Nanolex Premium Sealant-application review.
Today gave me the chance to assess the application of the Nanolex Premium Sealant that was kindly sent to me,
![]() Comes in a clear liquid form, ![]() The surface the sealant is to be applied firstly needs to be completely free of any waxes or previous protection and ideally for optimum results defect free, So after washing and good claying is required, for this test only the boot lid section was treated, ![]() This was followed by a machine polish using Megs #83 to remove any defects and provide a perfect base, ![]() Then an IPA (Isopropanol) wipedown to remove any oils from the surface, ![]() Defect free and ready for sealant, ![]() ![]() Extensive instructions are supplied and recommend applying the sealant with a thin pile glass type MF, on this occasion I opted for a stitched edged make-up pad, ideally this should be applied in a controlled enviroment, had I been doing the whole car this would have been the case and moved inside. ![]() Application of the product is smooth and ensuring every area of the paint gets a thin coating, ![]() Removal of the product is immediate with no time to allow to dry to the surface, recommendation as per the instruction requires 2 people ideally, 1 to apply and 1 to remove straight after, product sets very hard so any residue after full curing time will need extensive actions to remove. ![]() This is where I was really impressed on the removal, the sealant never smeared nor was I chasing it around the panel, lightly buffed of and kept folding the cloth until no product remained, Repeated on other half of bootlid, ![]() ![]() The finish left from the sealant definately added a small percentage to the overall appearance, a glassy clear coating. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First impressions look very promising and due to the nature of the products this will be assessed over time in regards to durability and performance, will have the car back in a fortnight to update the results.

Interesting to see how easy it is to apply - but i guess 2 people would make it that bit better and allow for reassurance.
It does seem to leave a really glassy finish - look forward to the updates

I tried out the basic sealant on the bonnet of my car the other night, and what amazed both Damon and I was the way the glassy effect and slickness increased as the product went through it's one hour leave period.
I'll be interested on your thoughts of what difference if any the 12 hour leave version exibited Rob. It really added to looks and feel on the basic sealant. I get the impression these products really are quite special |

The M3 I did my testing with the premium sealant and roof protectant will be back with me every fortnight, so an ideal opportunity to update upon. From similar products I have used, they appear to offer little percentage wise over a well prepped surface, immediately after application of the premium sealant the panel looked glassier, if this deepens further after full curing time then I'll be very impressed. Still looking forward to getting some applications of the premium glass & leather sealant done. |

Very interesting Rob
How would a product like this hold up against constant exposure to extremely high levels of UV sun? Not high temps like they get in the US or Australia, but the high UV, burning sun we get here? |
