Arrow Durability test - Nanolex Basic Rim

*UPDATED* June 27
*UPDATED* July 25 on page 2

Following on from here: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=112099

I thought it would be nice to see how long the sealant will last under common circumstances. This specific car covers around 1000Km/month and seems to be the perfect object since the wheels were in overall very good shape, one was freshly refurbed before the sealant was applied around 5 weeks ago.

I cleaned the rims yesterday - after not cleaning them for a whole month (on purpose). To see how effective the brake dust is prevented from penetrating the rims I decided not to wash them as we would recommend it (every week or every 10 days) to give the brake dust a chance to fight the sealant.

Prior to the wash the rims looked like this:

the mileage covered over the last four weeks was a little less than usual, around 800Km.

So I went on to the cleaning, starting with a layer of foam (regular shampoo was used).

then Pw'd (not yet touched)

foamed again and thoroughly cleaned with this regular Kärcher brush that came with the PW.

No rim cleaner or other special treatment was used to get to this point:

I'll update this thread from time to time until the sealant breaks down, which I expect to be in around 9 months.

Q's & C's greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

Florian

I have the Premium on one of the wife's wheels and like your test it does appear fairly impervious to brake dust damage.

Loving the ease of cleaning offered by Nanolex

Yep, the easy to clean effect is one thing that distinguishes the products from many others - I think that this aspect in combination with not having to use much cleaners make them much "greener" than most LSPs...

Cheers,

Florian

Right, I personally think that is really makes a difference!

Read the thread and think it is really really interesting - the eco related topics will definitely become more important!

Cheers,

Arrow Update

After more than 6! weeks I washed the car last night (after 1500 Km) - I was a little concerned that I overdid it due to the time the brake dust had the chance to penetrate the sealant, but the results were... take a look

Before

1st step was foaming with very little cleaner (regular car shampoo)

2nd step was a thorough go-over with the Kärcher

after that a little more car shampoo and the Kärcher-Brush

leaving this:

Usually plain water and the brush would have been enough, but due to the long intervals a little cleaner was used...

So far the sealant shows no signs of fading, cleaning was very easy and took maybe 5 mins if not less...

The rims were protected for 3 months now and over that course the car did approximately 4K Km!

The next cleaning will be water and brush only, I'll update again in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for reading (again), questions and comments still very welcome,

Cheers,

Florian
