Exotic Detail - BMW 3 Coupe Correction

Alright, so the other day saw me take a trip to correct this rather nice BMW 3 Coupe. The car was nice, the weather wasnt! It rained all damn day Luckily a double garage was on offer

The owner (Andy) had very kindly spent the previous day removing and cleaning each and every wheel! This time that was saved could then be spent on the machining stage.

Before & Wash

Shampoo Plus and two buckets were used

With the car washed, dried and brought inside it was time to crack out the Sonus Green & lube (shampoo plus and water collabo) . The clay did the trick, removing the contamination nicely. I would say this car was about a 5/6-10

Once the claying had been completed I went round with Menz Top Inspection to remove any clay residue.

Inspection & Correction

Bonnet

After trying and failing with IP I finally settled on 3M FCP & UF on a 3M Comp pad. This removed pretty much all minor defects, leaving a few random scratches. The bonnet suffered badly, and several area's needed wet sanding.

As you can see too the right of the light, the scratches were quite bad.

Some wet sanding was done with 3000 then 4000, machined with Menz Comp, FCP & UF. Finished down with IP

With the bonnet done I worked round. First with FCP & UF, followed by Menz IP on a 3M Polishing pad to refine the finish.

I was very pleased with the results, depite more wet sanded at various stages throughout the day. Once the polishing was complete Lime Prime Lite was used before a coat of Swissvax Onyx.

The wheels got PB Wheels sealant

And the engine was also given an hours attention

Unfortunatly once the car was finished we couldnt take it outside for some after shots...as the rain was still coming down.

The interior was cleaned, tyres dressed, trim protected etc before the final buff and some pictures.

Finished

Thanks for taking the time to read through, any questions just ask.

And finally big thanks to the owner, Andy

Regards, Simon
