Purple Haze Pro is Go. And so are a few other things :)

Hi guys,

OK, we are launching quite a few new products over the coming months and this is what we have this month...

PURPLE HAZE PRO, hybrid carnauba wax, 200ml, 47.95 GBP RRP

We are making ‘Pro’ versions of Blue Velvet and Purple Haze, our two most popular main range waxes. We felt that the range needed a stepping stone to Supernatural, and with the addition of additional carnauba and the sealant ingredient found in Red Mist, these ‘supercharged’ main range waxes should fit the bill. With main range durability at 2-3 months and our current recipe Supernatural running at 4-5 months, Purple Haze Pro should sit nicely in the 3-4 months camp. It may do even more, but it’s very tricky to tell. The main thing is that it’s like normal Purple Haze, but better. We’ve also changed the smell so it’s a little less girly! If popular we may end up changing the main Purple Haze recipe to this fragrance as well.

SUPERNATURAL FINE CUT METAL POLISH, metal polish, 100ml, 12.95 – 15.95 GBP RRP

As part of our ‘holistic’ range expansion programme, we have been quietly beavering away on various ‘support’ products to our main range. One of these is a metal polish for chrome tail pipes etc. This is a very fine cut product that leaves an extremely silky smooth finish on all types of metal, but most significantly aluminium, stainless steel and chrome. It is fine enough not to scratch most metal surfaces that would be classed as delicate. We have started with a fine cut compound as obviously it is better to be able to tackle a job in its entirety than wait for a forthcoming product to finish the job ;-) Our chemists have sought counsel from some leading metal polishing experts in the creation of this polish, so we know it will do the intended job very well. The bottles will be sold either INDIVIDUALLY OR IN KITS. The kits contain a lint free (or low lint, to be pedantic) microsuede cloth because our ultra-soft microfibres will become black with metal deposits and a little ‘cut’ from the cloth is welcome. The microsuede gives good absorption, is soft but has more cut or ‘drag’ than normal microfibre.

SUPERNATURAL GLOSS TRIM SEALANT, trim sealant, 50ml, 19.95 GBP RRP

We looked into various technologies available when it came to trim sealants, from standard silicone dressings through to covalent 'nano' coatings, but we settled on a rare but perfectly suited area of chemistry based around ‘crystal’ resins. These are essentially fast drying varnishes or lacquers that cure thickly in the open air, to leave a coating behind that is at least 50x thicker than a wax or sealant layer. This means they have good durability, as you’d expect. They also fill amazingly, to the extent that sun damaged black trim that has gone grey can be ‘reblackened’. They can also be removed with solvent, so they are non-permanent. Unfortunately, they are non-buffable, which makes applying them quite tricky and the inexperienced user may see ‘patchy’ results. We plan on bringing out some easier to use products for trim, but as there is only one other company using crystal resin technology at the moment (that we know of), so we thought it would be more interesting to go down this route. For the ‘advanced’ consumer, willing to put the effort in, this product will give superb results but it is not a mass market product. We don’t sell the 50ml bottles separately. All come with a lint-free/low lint microsuede cloth (standard microfibre will lint into the resin too much so isn’t advised) and comprehensive instructions. Fortune favours the brave!

ROTARY CLUB POLO SHIRT, merchandise, S-XXL sizing, 22.95 GBP RRP

A simple addition to our clothing collection; people wanted a Polo instead of a Tee. So we have done a ‘rotary club’ Polo shirt, with a rotary club chest emblem, a Dodo Juice logo on the right hand sleeve and ‘Chronic Dodoholic’ stitched into the neck line. It comes with a Dodo clothing label, in S, M, L, XL and XXL. The XXL is pretty generous as pj fits it without issue.

AND A SNEAK PREVIEW OF OUR FORTHCOMING SURF ART T-SHIRT COLLECTION...

We have joined forces with a talented surf artist called T-bone, and he will be creating a range of exclusive tee shirts inspired by our products. First up will be Purple Haze... this Tee should be launched in mid to late October but we thought you'd like a sneak preview

Hope you like the new stuff... I'll try and answer any questions here.

I will also think of a competition so someone can win a pot of PH Pro.

OK, few answers...

1) Panel pots... good idea, I did think about that the other day. We may get some panel pot lids printed and launch later in the year, but it will be a month or two away so no samples to begin with sadly.

2) How much better than regular PH or BV? Hmmm, it's better durability really. Knocking on the door of Supernatural. And they certainly feel slicker than normal carnaubas, especially when layered. But beading and shine of the standard waxes is pretty good, so these won't offer much more initially. If you have product left, don't chuck it away because these are out. The standard stuff is still very good. This is really for the PH/BV stalwarts who don't want to make a switch to Supernatural as they love what they have so much already.

3) Samples... there won't be a lot of sampling for these as it takes a bit of time to orchestrate and they are very specialist products. We will do more sampling with some of our more 'mass market' offerings over the coming months But we are going to give a pot of PH Pro away on the Dodo forum (see the thread).
