My First Property

Well here goes another post from me - 2 in one night, lol. Thought I’d share with you all pictures of our first new home (sorry they're basic pics). I went and snuck onto site (its ok I was wearing the appropriate PPE, lol.)

I couldn’t get inside as the doors and windows have been fitted but could just see inside through the dirty windows. Most of the second fix is complete, wall/ceilings have been mist coated but kitchen is yet to go in.

I had a look at the back garden and its huuuuuuge! A lot bigger than looking at the site layout plan. Going to cost a fortune to turf but oh well. We also made our first purchase today - a washing machine (very practical and very boring)

We’ve been given a completion date of 11 March and can’t wait to move but got so many things to do and its all adding up.

Not sure if anyone can enlighten me as whether they believe carrying out a Chancel Check (an Optional Conveyancing Search) is worth it or not? I’ve done a lot of research and it only costs about £17.00 so probably worth just biting the bullet? If it is flagged up as a problem then you can take out insurance which is another £70.00 (see what I mean about costs spiralling, lol)

And the best part about our bungalow is that it has a garage which I never ever thought would be attainable in our first new property. Some might say that living in a bungalow is for the elderly or retired but with this place we got a cracking deal and its nicely finished inside.

Any ways just thought of another post so better get on with writing that, haha.

Thanks for reading

Chris

Looks good and garage a real bonus, plenty of man time in there and detailing. I just would not like to sleep downstairs so prefer a house.

Develop the garden (I am a keen gardener and would love to have more space in my current garden )

It looks really good.

Agree with you - feels safer being upstairs. I'd always wanted a house but since I've been living with the gf at her parents place (a bunaglow) think this has converted me. Alot less cleaning involved, haha.

10 March but they will need to build out the other bungalows otherwise we won't have safe access to our place.

I'm tempted to try and grow some runner beans and maybe strawbs (nothing to ambitous to start with)

The whole buying a place thing is exciting and scary. None of my family or friends have been able to advise greatly as the process seems to have changed from back in the day, lol. The whole Chancel thing has only recently come to light because of one famous case that went to Court but when I ask people about it there like whats that.

looks like a nice little place you are getting!!

i didnt bother with a chancel check, or the insurance, as i think the chancel thingymabob is being withdrawn in the next 2 years. it is unlikly that it will be called upon.
