Help - Burnt through paint?

I've been working on a civic hatch doing some rust work on it and just thought i would give it a clean with a light polish. I came to a patch which was dull and slightly off in colour. The car has some signs of a spray touch up from a previous job (not me!).

I'm not sure if i've gone through a layer or what. any help would be great!

Can't say 100% but it does look like strike through. Was there any pigment on the pad?

There was a bit of pigment but i thought this was due to no clear coat.

It does not come up too well on the photo. when i saw this i did continue a but to see if it was a strike through and it did continue polish back.

not good!

Honda's should have clear coat

Frost White - NH-538. There is no clear coat applied on this. 4th gen preludes and EG civics hav this paint.

But in this case I wish there was a clear coat!

tbh, from that pic cant really tell you anything.

If its had a smart repair it may be you've pulled the blend... but impossible to say from pic provided

Looks like you have broken the edge of a blend back to me.

Best thing you can do is leave it be, you could try blowing some fade out thiners over the
blend to thin the edge back down but im doubtful it would have any affect if the repair has
been there while, still worth a shot.

(im only going by what i can see in your pic, and its not the best, but from what i can see
thats where my money would be)

FIXED!!

Well not really, Just resprayed the panel...mission failed. I now looking for the right compound to use after taking out the orange peel.

As there is no clear coat does this complicate the compound product/procedure?

What is the right product to use on oxidised paint? This white car has been sitting for a year or so and is as rough as..to the touch

I have some AG SRP - would this work on a medium compound pad anf then on a finish pad or could i use some Farecla G3 on a fine pad? I'm just trying to use what i have

have you tried claying the car first? This would help to cleanse the paint before getting the polisher on it. Is this just a practice car or is it for actual use when done?
