Alfa Romeo 147 - Italian Detailing Job

Hi guys, this is a review of my last detailing job. Sorry for my english.

Car: Alfa Romeo 147 Restyling - 1.9 JTD - 2005

Color: Blu Chiaia di Luna

Time needed: 3 weeks

Customer ask me a total exterior detailing job of this poor car. Car was in bad shape, always washed with brushes, it really needed a new paint job as every single panel had severe swirls and damages. Anyway..
Even if the car was pretty dirty, damages were so deep that they were very visible

Rear bumper had a lot of damages for have no attention while parking (plus car was left without gear in and the car crashed alone)

Side was swirled near a railing or something similar

Deep swirls everywhere

Big damage in the door

Damage on rear fender

The whole car was also covered with reinforced concrete and the owner tried to remove it and doing a lot of deep swirls

Abrasions on doors' pillar

Ok this was a brand new clay bar after exactly two seconds of use. I just put it on the car, move few times and that's the result. And yes the car was washed 2 times before.

Car washed and dried. Look at this

Third washing

License plates removed

Car had a very low mileage but with exterior in this shape noone would have believed that that was the original mileage

Bumper and door has been repaired and then shipped to the shop for paint

While the two parts were painted I worked on other things. The shift knob was in bad shape and with the owner we decided to make it polished with red numbers.

Before

After

Exhaust tip, before

After

Since the paint was in that shape, it was just useless to even try to polish it. Only thing I could try was to wetsand it and so I would also have the orange peel removed.

All the exterior parts removed for a better job.

There was a lot of small stone chips on hood, roof and pillars. They were really a lot and repaint was the only solution. Anyway wetsanding removed a lot of them

Ended wetsanding I started polishing it

Work in progress

Front bumper was in a bad shape too but the owner was no interested in repainting it so I removed it and tried all the best I could do to save it

Owner ask me if I could do tint rear lights, so I polished them, tint them and then polish them again

Lights tinted and ready to be polished, I actually made them a bit darker than needed as the polishing job would have made them clear again

Polished

Owner ask also to repait the front grill, paint it black, put new emblem and paint it with flat clear coat

Car finished ready for wax

Job finished.

Reflection:

Fuel door wasn't wetsanded so that was possible to see the difference between stock paint finish and the wetsanded one.

Reflection in the car:

Same image reflected in fuel's door

Image in the fuel's door

Same image on the car

Job took 3 weeks but owner was satisfied and so I was.
Thanks for watching and sorry for my english

The Alfa was so beat up I cant believe how it looks now. Really good write up, I enjoyed seeing the transformation.

What did you do to the gearnob to make it look so good? Was it just replaced or polished and painted?

don't worry about your English, it's perfectly fine.

The work you have done on that Alfa is fantastic, poor thing was in very bad shape.

Stunning transformation, still stunned by the quality of results from the wet sanding threads that go up on DW.
