What have i done wrong?

the arches were degreased with surfex prior then rinsed well with an open hose then dried using a combination of a air line and paper towels and left a bit in the warmth.... I applied 2 coats one thin first and left half an hour or so then a thicker coat over the top (both aerosol) Hope the 2 other cars i have done dont start doing this dont want to go look

Surfex is cationic and will force itself to the surface - this is why it removes so much stuff, but unless treated surfaces are flushed well with water the molecules it uses remain - they'll act as a lube.

Edited to add the below -

Dynax UB is not a hard or brittle film it’s a firm waxy calcium soap and very flexible. You can pull your finger nail through it but would never normally be able to lift the film in the way we see here.

The product is made without any water displacing solvent, this is intentional so that early water resistance is made on exterior surfaces. However if there is any moisture left - (this time of year with atmospheric water and colder panels water can remain on surfaces for hours) the product cannot adhere properly and will form a wax skin effectively floating over the moisture. Any traces of surfactant left from Surfex would’ve allowed the water to become very lubricious too so the film would sort of move.

The answer is to really dry the panel well after rinsing and follow with a white spirit wipe down to remove any surfactant where there’s any doubt as this will beyond all other factors cause loss of adhesion - not only to UB but any other film forming coating.

Finally in the aerosol version we include a rattle ball, the product phases when on a shelf and a really good shake is needed or you could possibly discharge an unmixed product that lacks the rubbery polymer and adhesion promoters. Dynax UB will sit quite happily on paint work for years and is a pig to remove unless solvents are employed.
