All four wheels for me. Especially in this country where you can see ice, snow, rain and heat all in the same day. If I lived in Australia or Sourthern California... it would probably be rear.

Rwd.

I'm no sideways hero but after being used to rwd for a while fed just feels like in inefficient scrabble.

4wd can be fun, and is definitely miles ahead of either in slippery conditions but then it feels a bit pointless lugging all that extra running gear around when it's hardly ever needed.

It's a very hard one to gauge, I've driven all three variants over the years and with modern tech, limited slip diff and all the safety aids turned on then all are pretty good in their own right, I think steering feel and chassis balance play a more important part in how a car handles with the steering feel etc. they all have their pros and cons and it's all down to personal preference and what you are most comfortable with.

Rear for me. 326bhp through the back wheels is great
Shame the 1 series looks like its going front wheel drive for the next model.
