Not experienced enough to vote unfortunately as only on second car and both were/are fwd. Would love a fast awd, rwd doesn't appeal to me just yet tbh

I've never been blown away by any rwd car and I've driven a few, honesty think they are overrated. Like said above they all have pros and cons so it just finding one that suits you and your needs, there is no right answer.

Having had a Subaru WRX 4WD and currently Audi A5 Cabriolet Quattro I would say 4WD especially living in the wet north where it rains almost everyday!

RWD for me, it leaves the front wheels to do their job of steering without the steering feel being interrupted by torque, I have only ever driven a couple of 4wd Audi's that had terrible under steer under power, and some larger 4wds that, lets be honest your just piloting, there is no driver engagement in a 2.5 ton house on wheels...

In the south of the UK RWD is no issue what so ever, I run Goodyear assym 2's year round and carry snow socks just in case. Our temps are not cold enough to warrant winter tyres, they work exceptionally well on snow and ice but for our damp cool winters they are just an expensive over kill.

Personally I would never go back to FWD, I hate the interrupted feeling you get with them especially if your driving something with some poke about it.

I would own a 4wd without question but it would never be my first choice as a driver.

Rear wheel drive. Every day of the week. Front wheel drive and rear wheel drive seriously hinders Turing circle.
Driven both powerful BMW and Volvos. No contest the Volvo just torque steers all over the place the BMW just goes.
Rather drive the company 5 series touring than the X5 4x4 just cant manoeuvre as well.
Rear wheel drive needs winter tyres is weather is poor.
