Beading or shine - what's more important to you?

Most of the videos that I watch on YouTube about detailing end up with lots of water being thrown over or sprayed onto a car. To be brutally honest, that makes me cringe!

I understand that beading is really important, but for me the gloss/glass look/shine is far more important.

So, what's more important to you? The beading of water on a car you've detailed or the gloss/shine of the paintwork?

Beading is just a nice byproduct we get when it rains!

Same as you though , never got the fascination in soaking a freshly detailed car. Im the opposite, if its raining or damp i dont like to get it out of the garage haha

This is only really to demonstrate the hydrophobic result the product has, easier to show how water behaves.

Not really, sheeting is better than beading as beading can leave water spots and leave the dirt behind too... people just think it looks cool

For me i always end up with lovely shine, and when it rains i get good beading so they kind of fall hand in hand

Like to see beading as it lets you know it's protected, but i do preffer a nice shine.

I will abstain from the vote as beading is a by-product of a well protected car (not really the aim) and if the car stops beading while washing it is a sign it needs to be re-waxed.

Out of curiosity, how many of you have seen any beading from your wash n wax shampoos or the wax option when you jet wash your car at the supermarket? (unless the car had a proper wax/sealant beforehand).

Shine, definetly
Shine turns heads and gets passers by talking, I've had more compliments towards shine rather than beading

Infact, I've noticed a pattern...the people who compliment shine, don't keep their cars as well

However I get more comments about beading from people who like to keep their cars in good condition

I've experienced that myself - during last winter I went through an automatic car wash and took the pro-shield or whatever it was called option....the car had not been previously waxed but it was polished (I was performing an experiment) so water just sat on the surface, after the car wash it beaded beautifully for a few days then started to die off

The experiment I was performing was - how bad can a car get by going through an automatic car wash just once

It really wasn't worth the 2 days of correction I had to do, but now I can show people how bad they are, rather than just saying they're bad with no evidence

Shine for me without a shadow of a doubt, you can't beat that mirror finish.

Shine to me is more important.
Problem when making videos is that the subtle effect the wax has on paint is very difficult to capture. Beading and sheeting though isn't and can be quite varied.
It's like trying to rate how cool a breeze is on camera but all you can show is how a flag waves in the wind. Not an ideal measure but is visual nonetheless.

Shine is what it's all about! Beading is just a by product of your hard work.
