Wax now or wait till spring?

Hi all,

I have only ever used G3 resin wax (the bottle not the paste wax) on my car, and for Christmas among other goodies purchased 30ml of Angelwax.

I'm sure you understand the feeling of chomping at the bit and wanting to use all of your new products immediately!

But would it be better to wax the car 1st week in January, or just wait for the salty winter roads and weather to subside before applying, and giving it more chance to last, and look good?

What do you think?

N

I say wash the car and wax it now...30ml is not a lot but you wont use it all up.

You could also just use it on a single panel (the hood for instance) too see how its like on the short run.

I just finished a 50ml pot of OCD Nebula which did about 6 cars from Fiesta up to mondeo size so 30 ml should see you good a single coat for 3-4 cars. I know you said you've used other products but is your car protected now? If not get a coat on and then double coat it in the spring. If you're currently protected then don't remove what you have just to try the angelwax. Wait u til you can get enjoyment out of spending time applying it.

Personally I don't bother trying to apply paste LSPs this time of year. I've got Bilt Hamber Hydra Wax, BSD, plus the option of washing the car in Gyeon Bathe+ to top up protection over the winter.

Plus working out cure times is going to be a stress in the cold. Save it until spring IMO

Get it on now so you have some protection on. The weather is very mild at the moment so curing time won't be a problem

cheers all!

I do need to wait until at least Wednesday before I'd get away with spending a day detailing!

My car hasn't been waxed since August so it is due a layer now. I was going to wash, clay, polish and then wax. I could wax with the G3 and leave the AW until April. I just didn't want to splurge expensive (for me) wax which then has to contend with my weekly winter washes (pre-soaks etc)

I'd get it done fairly soon as we are bound to get a lot more mucky weather before Spring and a good coat or two of wax will help protect the car from the vagaries of the weather, salt and dirt from the road and other cars.

If the weather is dry or you have a garage just get on and do it now. Angelwax is as tough as you can get and will stand up to normal wax friendly wash routines even in winter. All their wax has great durability. As far as not doing it beacause of road salt, grime etc......if you are doing a full decom wash then you will take all the crap off ready to put Angelwax on clean paint.
You will love the stuff.......get it on now :-)
