Just taken delivery of a new car... needs WASHED!

So I've just taken delivery of a new Golf R estate. Thankfully the delivery driver didn't wash it at the local swirl-o-matic before dropping it off. Now, after another 4 days of ownership (and 230 miles on filthy roads) it looks horrific. The dilemma is simple: how do I wash this car, protect it enough for the remainder of the winter but not have too much time out of the house at this time of the year? My wife HATES me washing the car. She abhors it. She literally hates the Golf already JUST because i'll be cleaning it and enjoying it. I can maybe squeeze a couple of hours in.

What can I feasibly do in a couple of hours to a) allow me to see my new car without road grime on it/a nice bit of shine b) protect it enough to maintain it relatively well until I have more time...

Wash it using a decent shampoo and the 2BM, then dry it with a proper drying towel and that should make it look so much better. Ideally it needs protection but in 2 hours that could be asking a lot.

Get yourself some of Adams H2O guard and gloss, that should sort things short term to get you through winter.

Get some Purity X laid down via foam lance after a 2BM wash and you'll be grand for a few weeks

I took delivery of my Golf GTE just as all the snow & ice hit, all I have done so far is twice weekly washing, drying off with my blower and then a coat of Sonax BSD. It seems to be beading brilliantly and not taking up too much time.

I would get a new wife.

As above I would go for Bsd or a water activated product like WetCoat or bead juice
