Pah, I guess folk with PhDs in glacial hydrochemistry are 10 a penny in the Detailing game. Get out there and get a proper job doing... err... doing ... err.. ok, what exactly would a glacial hydrochemist do when he's not at home in the garage?

ps.. website looks as professional as I would have expected.

He always tells me it was to work on Glaciers and the likes, but i think it was just an excuse to play about with snow mobiles and build snowmen in a different part of the world

Bingo! In a nutshell, I got to live in a hut in the arctic for a fair while, ride snow mobiles at top whack, carry a rifle (in case of bear attacks), stuff my face full of cake and build snowmen, all whilst measuring and monitoring a massive glacier to determine total meltwater outputs and associated dissolved chemical loads. Not much use now you may think, but writing my 80,000 word thesis taught me not to quit (and believe me I came close!), so it was actually a very valuable life experience.
