There is absolutely no point in using expensive waxes and sealants striving to achieve a perfect end finish if you don’t get the basics right at the outset. Most swirls and paint imperfections have to be addressed later on in the process because of poor detailing preparation and the effects of Foreign Object Damage (FOD) on paint (such as 'own goal' damage from grit and grime) having to be removed. However careful we all might strive to be, sometimes, we make mistakes and damge happens. So it makes sense to be as methodical and as careful as we can be, from the very first stages of the detailing process, and not just at the end. Bilt-Hamber therefore, is pleased to announce Auto-foam, the latest addition to our detailing range and the result of extensive in-house research and development. Auto-foam will reduce even further the possibility of damage to paintwork by presenting you with beautifully clear FOD free paint, ready for subsequent detailing.

Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam is a new generation premium quality, ultra high foaming water based pre wash treatment, designed to soak and saturate soiled vehicle paintwork prior to the application of vehicle shampoo and paint food. Auto-foam will not affect LSP and is designed for use with all pressure washer foam lances. Applied at a PIR (Panel Impact Ratio) of 4%. Auto-foam will panel dwell for typically 5-8 minutes. Auto-foam is formulated specifically to offer maximum wetting, without drying and setting.

Auto-foam has been formulated and blended by us to be tough on soil and grime, but harmless to paint, its non caustic formulation ensures that even regular use will not attack paint binders. Our hard working surfactants will attack and penetrate the hardest of road dirt and grime without the need for manual intervention. During the panel dwell period, Auto-foam’s bubbles will systematically burst and move, encouraging our soaking and cleansing agents to start working. The effects of road grime are neutralised by them, by being bonded within our blend of surfactants, then lifted from painted surfaces and physically removed, minimising harm caused by swirling and marking during subsequent detailing. When its work has been done, Auto-foam may be washed off in a conventional manner, leaving a immaculately presented automotive surface, perfectly ready for further treatments. For excessively soiled surfaces, simply increase PIR and/or number of applications.

We know that not all detailing enthusiasts will have access to water effluent facilities so we have blended Auto-foam with only biodegradable compounds. 5 litres of high powered, totally safe Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam is available for just £14.30 (excluding post & packing) and advance orders are now being taken. First deliveries should be with end users by April 30th. Please register your interest here, or contact your usual stockist. Finally, in addition to our friendly aerodrome contacts and car dealers, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank PJS and Bigpickle for their honest feedback and help in trialling Auto-foam, in a wide range of conditions and when they really could have been doing something rather more interesting than experimenting with different settings for us. Thanks guys. :thumb:

Interested too

two questions:
Can this also be used as a "normal" shampoo for a post foam bucket wash?

Are the any impacts to using warm/hot water with this product?
Pete is bogged down rescuing the North Sea oil industry from corrosion so he asked me to do this one.

Yes, there is an impact to the water temp. You'll hit cloud point where the surfactant 'tails' (the bits that remove the dirt) are longing to get attached to oil / dirt. Identifying Cloud Point is vital, because it's what you want for max cleaning. But a side effect in some cleaners and foams that have caustic additives is that when you get them hot, they'll reach cloud point but the caustic compounds will be more far more aggressive too, and thats bad. Its at that point that they WILL be more likely to attack stuff you want to leave alone - the paint binder. Ok then. What makes Auto-foam different is that if you wanted to apply with cold and rinse off with warm - that wouldn't present a problem. But the thing to bear in mind is that our Auto-foam doesn't need to be hot, and it will still work superbly at temps as low as between 40 and 50 degrees (think washing clothes - the cooler the wash, the better it is for your garments). It has no caustic agents, is biodegradable and addresses the issue from a completely new perspective.

With regards to your question about using it as a bucket rinse, well.. you could do, in theory. But. Auto-wash is designed to do the job differently and work in conjunction with Auto-foam. Thats sounds like sales BS, so I'll explain. Auto-wash has far higher degrees of lubricity to cope with the manual interaction, it is far more concentrated in certain aspects of its formulation and it is designed to remain in situ on the panel for far longer. Basically, Auto-wash is designed to shake free and move particulate matter under its own action, whereas Auto-wash is designed to lubricate and linger via more deliberate manual cleaning.

I hope thats of help.

Hi Cheeze,

I think I might have answered the latter part of this, as our posts crossed. Yup, if you want to order Auto-wash - no extra cost (although you'll have to get them together, is that ok?). No plans to do 1l bottles of Auto-wash. Are you referring to pro use? Its so concentrated, it lasts months anyway so from your perspective, its possibly not worth buying it by the litre anyway.
