Full Write Up, 1966 Pontiac Lemans Show Car, Fully Sanded and Polished

I rarely ever post up and brag about my own work, but I thought this was worth reading. check it out.

This is a very lengthy, thorough and detailed write up of the exact process, steps and techniques I performed on a 66 Lemans that was fully color sanded and polished out to perfection.

If anyone is curious what it takes to paint and perfect a car, this is what you want to read.

Lots of information for the DIY's as well as the pro's.

Please understand why I posted a link and did not rewrite the entire documentation as it took me over 5 hours just to do the write up.

Thanks and enjoy,
Josh

legendary!!! I've just realised my jaw has been hanging open for the past few minutes in awe lol, fantastic job there, I'm guessing the owner is thrilled to bits, its amazing how good a paintjob some people can manage evern without a full professional set up too.

Thank you.

Yea, it's supposed to be in the 100's for the next few days too, but working in garages can absolutely kill me, if it's 100 out side, it's like 115+ in a garage, luckily for me this 66 Lemans I did was in an AC garage.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, he really did a nice paint job on this one as well as a great rub out with the sanding. His friend has a full paint booth set up in his garage which is where the car was painted, so it was sealed off and air tight for the most part while he painted it and the owner has been painting cars off and on for the better part of 40 years so he knows what he's doing thankfully.

Fantastic work and write up

Loving the in depth product calculations you don't see so many people on here doing that in posts anymore.

Interesting you found PowerGloss has more cut than M105, although I don't have much run time with either i'd have gone the other way.

Thanks

Well, I think the Menz PG has a tiny bit more bite to it, not much, but I can also work it in longer so it allows more of the sanding scratches to be removed due to the longer working time.

These were just my observations and remember this is a repainted car so on different clear coats there will be different results.....

Thanks, Josh
