Anyone interested in 'Green' detailing?

Anyone else interested in products, techniques & processes that would make detailing a little more environmentally friendly?

There's a few areas that have me wondering recently:

1. buckets of shampoo solution to dispose of
2. general water use
3. cleaning chemicals
4. disposable vs re-usable stuff
4. foaming

I know its not everyone's bag but I'd like to find out more about the impact of products and possible ways to minimise environmental impact.

If you're not interested and going to simply flame me or the thread, PLEASE DONT BOTHER TO RESPOND

I guess first port of call would be to the product manufacturers, or possibly retailers, to see what chemicals of concern are in the products (MSDS sheets I think they are called), and what impact they have on the environment.

General water use concerns me, as the mother insists that I pay some board.

But it's hard to avoid, you need a hose for foaming, rinsing, and washing. Even claying!

When you say 'stuff' , what do you mean?

i have often thought about this when foaming my car or getting rid of the used water in the buckets and rising off wheel cleaner etc.

I think the water collection you do is very interesting Damon, but in all honesty that is probably from me being a tightwad perspective than wanting to save the environment

Makes sense though when it rains all the time. When I buy a house I shall have tanks and try and use rain water more.

all left over water in my buckets goes over the garden plants! (havent had any ill effects the 5 years weve been at this house!)
ideally what you need is a detailing/washing platform that drains into a soakaway!
