Right, a very odd question coming.
I have a vectra which has a leather interior, yet when you step inside, there isn't particular a scent present which reminds you of leather.
Yet my friend has a Y reg saab saloon, and the interior has the most wonderful aroma when you step inside it.
Ive tried using the products he uses - autoglym creme and cleaner and none of these have the same smell. Also tried zymol cleaner which was closer but the smell didn't last.
Someone out there has gotta have a saab who knows what smell im talking about  and can help me towards finding what product can recreate that scent.
Thanks
Andy

I can recommend Pinnacle leather cleaner and conditioner, how do I know, when a friend visited my house they commented on how they could smell the leather suite in the lounge (just cleaned with it that day :) ).

Did a search and the common product seemed to be gliptone.
So i went onto Ebay and found a conditioner and cleaner kit for £10, which also in the listing mentioned "Used by Saab GB"...so fingers crossed ive just bought the right product ;)

Search this site. I'm sure that someone has mentioned an air freshener that smells of leather. I've also read somewhere that Audi dealers sell a liquid you put a few drops of in the air vents - New Car Aroma or something it's called - which I believe includes leather.
P.S. I've got a Saab so I know what you mean :)

Ahh so you know that smell then :)
Ive tried the air freshners, which reminded me more of a leather jacket smell, this saab leather smell was something completely different it was a rich vibrant smell which made the car very inviting.
If only we could transmit scents over the net!!

Gliptone Liquid Leather is quite likely the stuff you need as it does add new leather smell.

Its possibly because saab use leather for the whole seat(so ive heard) where as its probably only the front or possiblly less which is actually leather on your vauxhall, the rest is just vinyl.

Yeah thats right most cars are vinyl seats not genuine leather, hence no smell. Also real leather seats are soft to touch and vinyl is harder. I cleaned a toyota rav 4 the other day with full real leather and the smell was wonderful.

It can also depend upon what type of fats/oils are introduced into the leather when it is made, that determins the smell. Leather doesn't smell like leather.....the smell you associate with leather comes from fats and oils that are introduced into the hide during the leather making process.
So leather smells can vary depending upon the ingredients that are used. Also, there is a lot of imitation leather out there.......it looks great and feels great but isn't real leather and so has no smell.

My corsa always has the leather smell in it. I use the megs stuff but it smells different after the seats are cleaned with it. but the leather smell always comes back a few days later :)

Well after spending nearly £50 on leather cleaning products i think ive just experienced the most ironic situation ever.
I bought gliptone liquid leather at a cost of £12 - smelt like proper leather, but more like a cold tcp smell, not really what i was after.
Then bought a tub of connolly hide care at £8.99 - i'll be fecked if im even using that inside my car due to the incredible smell of white spirit, that would probably knock me out lol! Sure its a good conditioner though.
Then bought a zymol pack of cleaner and conditioner at £24 hoping the conditioner would be the same smell as the cleaner, it wasn't, it was more like a faint gliptone scent.
I then today in an hour of boredom decided to visit Halfrauds for a final sniff of every leather related product. Meguairs....couldnt as it was sealed :( went back to the shelf with universal products on and there in the most boring cheap looking bottle was Halfords leather conditioner. I remembered back to buying some cleaner by Halfords and it being absolute cack. For the novelty i opened the little blue bottle of conditioner and took a sniff. Well i'll be damned if it wasn't just the smell i was after! and £4.99 too!
Got home and applied it to every square centimetre of leather in my car and it now smells just how i wanted it :D
It also seems to have done a good job concidering its cost.
Now the irony is twofold....the price £4.99 the most cheapest conditioner on the planet, and secondly i realised I had actually bought some of this 2 years ago and forgotten about it, i found it in the garage behind a shelf.
Doh!!!
So next time your in Halfords, find the little blue bottle of leather CONDITIONER (not cleaner) and have a sniff, and think of me and my quest for the right leather scent!!!
