Just stick a ceramic coating on them instead of clear coating them. But if you do want to clear coat them, I'm sure the surface needs to be keyed slightly, as in not highly polished after wet sanding

They will of course offer 'more' protection. But they'll still scratch. The best way to protect is to have them wrapped in PPF IMO

It would have been quite common with 'older' compounds that were prone to Dusting, today's polishes have advanced a long way. If your having trouble with dusting, I'd re look at your working methods....
