Sounds like an issue with the prep work and there should be no issue keeping the repair on your door to that panel only. I have repeat customers from over 5 years ago and my repairs are just as good...

Only way to tell is by spray out cards normally going of the prime shade either tinting it by eye or going through the shades either darker/lighter etc.

You may end up causing a bigger issue.

You don’t have to paint the entire spoiler with base as long as you get coverage over the primer you can gently fade out the base across the spoiler so you don't end up with dark rings of colour....
