The fitting in the photo (at the bottom) isn't a lavor connector, if that's what you ordered it's not what you've received. It looks more like a Black & Decker/Makita fitting.
Speak to the supplier...

A coating first followed by a sacrifical layer of wax which you can top up every now and then.
This will also help with any potential water spotting...
