let it cure fully and put on the lightest coats so you dont get lots of solvent on at once

fresh paint jobs can be tricky to rework...sand out the defect and let it sit a week, then light coats

sand it it and repaint over it ...sounds like you need to dust some basecoat over where it went through

800 wet n dry should do it...be carefull and use light coats of basecoat as it may pickle up...

blending thinner isnt magic , you still need the correct prep and the paint put on properly , then know what to do when polishing it , always have to take care polishing near blends

basically you can hook up the meter to show what the car is taking when it should be dead , then pull...

trying to sand a huge blob might end up going through the good paint too

ive been in the body trade 20 years , theres nothing you can do at home with that , if you can weld then cut it out and replace it
