Meguiars UC, UP and Liquid Wax

Hi folks,

I am the new owner (1 month old) of a Qashqai 2017 Model White. I am a family man and deemed this the nicest car for our family to travel in. I am also a little OCD about scratches, swirls etc. and my last Black Focus i used auto glym super reisen polish and meguiars scratch X to remove any scratches and try to keep the car looking new.

So after a month of having this car and some sunlight I have noticed some swirls on the paint when direct sun hits and the headlights are scraped - not deep you can't feel them only see them in direct sun.

I was going to use the meguiars uc, up and liquid wax to restore the car as much as possible. Is this a good idea and is it ok for white cars?

BTW i also noticed a few tiny specs of iron on the paint work so i got some of the AutoGlym Magma to spray on to remove this.

Any advice appreciated - if i am going down the wrong road please say

Hi!

Are you planning to use these by machine or hand?

You might get better results from the Super Resin Polish by hand, as the fillers will give better results by hand than abrasives most likely.

With regards to polishing black Vs white there is no difference because the part of the paint you're polishing isn't coloured anyway - you only polish the clear coat on top of the colour coat.

Also no problems using Magma on the car. If you want a real laugh, spray it on the wheels and see how purple they go!

Ultimate compound by hand is pretty decent and will give good correction of swirls by hand.

Ultimate polish I’m still undecided on. It does give a little refining, a little glazing from the oils and leaves a decent finish. Not sure it’s better than Autoglym SRP.

Ultimate liquid wax is so so quick and easy to use. Gives amazing gloss even on light colours. Doesn’t last long though so be prepared to reapply every couple of months.
