Road tar on carpet mats with foam backing

Ok so I have found road tar on grey/black interior mats. Carpet mats with foam backing.

Due to other half not telling me, they had set in I managed to lift of the hard tar but it has stained through.

Autosmart brisk didn’t do too much to them at least 3 attempts.

I then VAX’d with vax carpet solution the mat and did make some progress but has still left the stain

I’ve got a lot in my kit (mainly Autosmart and Autoglym), any thoughts on best way to remove? If paintwork would attack with tardis but not sure on carpet ?

Any advice thanks

So tried what you said… took a fair amount of Wd-40 soaked in for a few mins then worked on with a nail brush, repeated this for around 5-10 mins

Then did one run over with the VAX, then the wd-40’ repelled it very well then the area turned white…

So kept going with the vax sprayed on cleaner let it soak, again used nail brush repeated this a few times then after 5 mins the white was gone.

Soaked all excess liquid, left to dry in heat (in shade), stain and white mark has gone. Gave it a quick dry hover cant’t spot any stain.

Thank you.

That's not good

Did you reclean the whole matt? If you cleaned isolated areas then you will get marks.
