They're great the EBC pads, seem to have firmed up the pedal no end, and it stops with far more confidence now!

You're correct the one pad was worn more than the other, one was 50% worn while i'd say the other was 80% not ideal..

Weirdly no sticking caliper pistons or guide pins

Brakes Part 2

I did manage to find a break in the weather yesterday to do the other side, and while it was a simple process this side gave me a few more issues to deal with

So first off after much faffing and frantically searching for my locking wheel nut adaptor the wheel was removed

After some gentle persuasion the caliper bolts were removed, only 2 12mm bolts easy! - after levering the caliper off the carrier I set it aside and started on my caliper carrier

This was a tad fraught, no amount of pushing/pulling on the spanner would make the lower 19mm carrier bolt yield, however a swift smack with a hammer loosened it off

Upon further scrutiny one of my caliper pins were a tad stiffer than i'd of liked

So a quick clean up with some fine wire wool and a fresh coat of grease improved things immensely

At this point it was a case of bolting things back up and squishing the caliper pistons back in, which was dead easy with my caliper tool

During

and done!

I took her out for a good drive and I was amazed at the difference, the brake pedal pulsation has vanished and the steering shudder when braking from high speed has vanished, she now drives/stops like a dream!

The brakes also feel like they have far more bite to them and they don't seem to squeak after hard use like my old mintex pads, a testament to EBC Ultimax 2 pads I suppose!

Well chuffed!

The old disks were well past it on the NS too.

Very deep scouring and a definite warp!

Brilliant update Henry Great results, such a serviceable job can make the entire car feel different can't it.

Love the look of the new discs, when mine are shot I think I want to try some J hook discs or ones like yours, I've never owned/had anything other than standard discs.

What's under the cover next to the Jaaaaaaaaaaaag?
