Great to hear a good ending came after the mare you had with the scrotes.

Sounds like a decent chap and I hope the Audi serves him well.

You never know, if the guy has a fair amount of financial security, he may be buying the car for a nanny or something.

Glad it went well in the end, I have to say it brought back memories of when we were selling my son's Lancer, and a similar thing happened. At one point I wondered if they were going to produce guns and take the car by force.

All the best for you all, and hope Aston's on the mend now.

I am delighted to hear that the sale of the Audi has gone through 2nd time around but what a nightmare experience to have been subjected to in the previous instance. People like that are utterly shameless and a real scourge on our society.

It seems you are not alone either as the very next day there was a similar story told over on the Alpina forum by somebody selling their D3 and the MO was exactly the same. 3 guys, a bit of distraction, short test drive etc. etc.

Absolutely brilliant on the sale, lots of genuine people out there just a shame you had to go through that ordeal before.

Great to hear the car sold well. Buying and selling anything just now seems a target for scammers more than ever

We gave the new Daimler a clean today, took some video and some photos. I've not got the time to put the video together yet, but here's a few pictures.

Such lovely condition, I find myself wishing is was a Supercharged one like Aston's; then I'd probably keep it instead.

Some more happenings in the Aston household these last few days!

The BMW

I neglected to mention that the BMW had two minor scuffs on the passenger side alloy wheels sorted out last week, and the garage I purchased the car from picked up the bill. But I also went to the BMW specialist garage on Friday, to have the audio system looked at.

Ironic that one of the things that put me off both the Jaguar XJ X351, and the Mercedes S class W222 was the amount of problems I had read about with the technology. I felt quite smug with my choice in the BMW, as there does not appear to be many reported known issues. But my smugness was about to end...

Last week, while driving along, the audio completely died. it would occasionally crackle back into life, but never for long and it made my trips to work very boring! I told the garage I purchased the car from, and they instructed me to get it into a BMW specialist, and they would pick up the repair bill. Their hope was that is was just a software reset, or update.

I had a phone call from Autoleys BMW specialist in Kings Lynn yesterday, and they explained that the error codes present suggest a faulty amplifier. The cost for a new Hardon Kardin amplifier from BMW is £1,202 + VAT, with programming and installation the total would be over £1,600. So that's an expensive bill for a car I have only had for a couple of weeks, - but actually less that I was expecting for a new amplifier if I am honest.

To be fair, the garage I purchased from did not quibble at all. The salesman promised it would get sorted out for me, and I am waiting to hear back after he has got the nod from his director that it can be repaired at their cost.

The Lexus

Perhaps no surprise that the Lexus has been absolutely perfect, and Lindsey is loving her new car. I have to say after driving it a couple of times, it is an amazing beast, silent, comfortable, and loaded with technology.

So she is able to enjoy that smugness I have now lost all claim to.

The Daimler Super V8

While the BMW is at the garage, I used Aston's Daimler Super V8 to go to/from work. It's not been used since December, but after a battery charge it cranked into life and drove perfectly yesterday and this morning.

I am shocked at how dirty it is outside, there is green crap all over it, some sort of moss I guess? There is also bird poo, and the usual dusty/dirt from rain. I think that made my mind up that I don't want two cars sat getting like this all the time... so the 2nd Daimler is definitely, definately going!

Young master Spencer will not be getting any cars until I have a garage I am afraid!... but at least that gives me time to decide what it will be....?... Mercedes C140 coupe... Nissan 300ZX fairlady… Rolls Royce Silver Shadow... 90's BMW 840Ci.... Jaguar XJS... Bentley Turbo R... Hmmmm I am undecided… just don't tell Lindsey everyone!

The Daimler V8

After it's clean at the weekend, I made a list of niggles that I might like to sort, and given its not really worth all that much I was very tempted to keep her, fix everything, and we would have "Spencer's Daimler". I am just stunned at how solid the body is, and if I spend £500 she would probably be absolutely pristine. I just wish I could swap the bodies of the two Daimlers over!

I photographed and took video of the Daimler V8 at the weekend, and there will be a video update, but for the time being I have used what I took to list it for sale on Autotrader. It looks like a lot of the Daimlers are selling (I had a few favourited and all bar two have sold), so I think it's likely a new proud owner can be found.

So very soon it will be just 3 cars left... and then I think I need to think about a garage!
