descent car speakers needed

Hi all, any of you in the know with current car audio equiptment?
I'm looking to upgrade my front speakers first of all, the oem set up is 3 way components.
Having looked into available 3 way comps at a reasonable price I've been put off by no good brands that I recognise so now looking at a good 2 way component setup.
So far I'm looking at alpine type R 6.5" comps
Or rockford fosgate punch or power 6.5s.
Anyone had any of these or can offer a sensible alternative at around £150
Thanks

What's wrong with focal or hertz?

Iirc I liked the polyglass focals at a cheaper price, focal kr2s at more and iirc audison wouldn't fit in the doors.

Type R are ok. You would be surprised at how good modern standard OE is though.

Depending what you listen to but £150 for decent component set up I would try Rainbow or Hertz, Focal is really nice and my preferred brand but that is largely down to my choice in music as they can be quite harsh.

Diamond Audio is a safe bet to but I would be looking at the Rainbows as they offer about the roundest sound at this budget.

Sorry guys I should have said that I am upgrading the speakers in a 20 year old 8 series bmw.
Haven't been into car audio since I was about 20 so a good 16 years ago, back when alpine/kenwood/pioneer were all the rage.
I've seen these hertz and focal speakers but didn't think they would be up there with alpine and rockford fosgate ect

Hertz and focal are 2 of the best speakers out there and wipe the floor with alpine etc, look into mtx also as there a good mid range speaker

See now I'm glad I asked.
Started looking in halfords at vibe but soon found out they lack quality build. Didn't know anything about these hertz ect, and just assumed the branded ones would still be a good choice, plus I always loved my old rockford fosgate stuff.
I'll look into these 3 way components some more now then
I have been looking at alpine amps too but ur Probly gunna tell me they are crap nowadays too?

If you are just looking at running them off the head unit then for something easy to drive. Your better off listening to them, focal by all accounts can be quite bright, me if prefer a smoother sound so dls or rainbow would be my choice

Alpine stuff is far from crap.

I would still pick Alpine as my source unit, biggest problem is budget stuff floods the market like it has with Pioneer and Kenwood as they did and still do make some very good gear.

Am old school and still like my Pheonix Gold amps but Alpine are very good and I have replaced my old Rockford BD1000.1 with an Alpine HMD1000 for my Alpine Type X woofer.

My mid range was run by an Audioson SRX4 as I really can't fault it for the money and back when I bought it they were winning multi awards.

Listen to as much as you can picking the music you want listen to.

More?
That's good about alpine as I have 2 headunit 1 newish one retro same age as car but both good ones.
Am looking at alpine amps as was going to go with all one brand but I'm being seriously pointed toward focal krs range by a friend in the us now. Pretty expensive tho.
Not sure if it will be too good and expensive for what I need tho
