Grumble: refused a quote

My renewal came through and as usual I shop around, Flux came at 754 tpft, so I rang Greenlight gave some details & was told by the chap I was speaking to that because I'd previously been quoted but not taken them up he didnt want to quote me, because I'd just stick with my current insurer.

Turns out I left my current insurer & went with Brentacre who bent over backwards to get me a better quote, the beat my Flux renewal by £130 and it was fully comp.

Wont be touching Greenlight again

I tried them once

Wouldn't touch my postcode at all, odd as every other insurer does for perfectly reasonable rates too

Don't entertain them when looking these days

That seems a very odd reason to not quote! Surely he gets paid either way, so it's no skin off his nose, whatever targets he may have to hit this month.

I know they dont touch BMW's or stuff over £20k in value.

As I posted in the other thread been with them for more years than I care to remember and never had any issues...they even helped my Mrs out when her renewal cam through from DirectLine after i got taken out by that truck on the M25.

I can only sing their praises....

Thank you for the kind comments.

Like every insurance company we cant always compete on every policy or beat everyone prices but when a client meets our criteria we are really competitive

Kind Regards

I had a similar issue this week.

I have 2 vehicles on a multi car policy that are due to renew in 2-3 weeks, both myself and my wife are named drivers. I am adding a A45 to the fleet so I called the office for the most efficient way to ensure them as I have used them before in the mid 2000’s for Type R’s with no issues.

The blunt answer was you may as well ‘stick with your existing ensurer’. Yes of course! I thought... that’s what we all do, just stick with the same company regardless of cost and never ring around for a comparison.

So a quick call to A plan down in Thatcham who I also used back in the day for my DC5, and 1 day later they come back with a winning quote.

Some of these ''specialist'' insurance companies work out more expensive that the more mainstream ones. I've tried a few in the past & as above ''sorry'' it's too expensive & won't touch it. I'm with Admiral at the moment & have been for the last 3 years, the renewal have always been fair in the time i've been with them.
