The chances of me winning the jackpot are so remote I'm more likely to be struck by lightning, I realise this, but it's worth my £2 to me - there's no other avenue where I could potentially win such a life-changing amount.

I don't gamble on anything else.
This

If you win £1,000,000 and you've played every week for 20 years at £4 a time you're still up by £995,840... no brainer for me. I play Wednesday and Sat by direct debit

I still do Lotto once a week (Sat), but since they changed its format last year, it has gone from me having a minimal chance of matching numbers, to virtually no chance at all.

I often used to have one or two numbers matching, even if I didn't get enough to win anything, but since the increase in the numbers to choose from, I have rarely matched even one number, let alone won anything.

I shall give to the end of the year perhaps, and if my fortunes don't improve, I shall stop. The mathematical odds of winning anything worthwhile were never good, but they are now so infinitessimally small as to be as near to zero as makes no difference.

I stopped doing the Euro a while back for similar reasons - there is virtually no likelihood of winning anything worthwhile (I think I won twice on the Euro - £3.46 and £2.73).

Both have gone from being a bit of fun to being an outright con IMO.

I used to play the lotto & thunderball.

Once they added in the 50's numbers and it went to £2 per line for the lotto, I stopped playing it.

Under the old 1-49 I did match 5 numbers ages ago & I only got £1600!!

I now only do the thunderball and i more or less get something back every week. The Thunderball is still only £1 per line & there is more chances to win something than there is playing Lotto.

£1600 is a lot more than the £424 5 numbers paid out on Saturday.

5 numbers has odds of 145,000/1.

£424 that is shocking

I got that £1600 win back in 2002 & it was low compaired to what was getting paid out at the time.....it was usually a lot more.

I play the Euros sometimes, generally when its >£50m

Not played the National for a while, at £2 and the increase in numbers.

Played for years via direct debit but stopped in January.
Don't know how I feel about it really, it's nice knowing you have a chance of winning no matter how mall it is. Now actually have zero chance of winning a million.
