Koch Chemie FSE smearing problems

Hi all,

After hearing great things about Koch Chemie FSE Finish Spray Exterior Quick Detailer with Limescale Remover I went ahead and got some however over the last couple of weeks of using it I have found it to leave a misty smear across any paint I apply it too.

I have tried spraying directly on to the paint and then wiping and buffing off and also applying to a microfibre cloth and applying then buffing.

Cloths used are Chemical Guys buffing cloths that were clean and fresh for use with this product.

At the time it looks like it has left a nice shine however an hour or less later the car is covered in a misty smear almost as if it hadn't been buffed off and trust me I did buff off.

Could this be how it is reacting with the Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid wax which had only been applied a week before, could it be the paint, application error or a dodgy batch of product?

The car is a 2 year old Mercedes in Osidian Metallic Black if that helps. It has been decontaminated, polished and waxed.

Any thoughts as I am surprised at this considering the reviews and recommendations for this product.

Many thanks

I occasionally get mild smearing from FSE it does like a dry side of the cloth.

Agreed however this is all over the car and i use multiple cloths to ensure I always have a dry side...confusing me and want to get it sorted as ruining the work of the wax but also wanted to enjoy this product.

Little update. I tried again this evening with it using different, more expensive buffing towels and made sure I did smaller areas to buff off quicker.

It seems to have worked but will see what it’s like in the morning.

At the moment we can put it down to user error of doing too large an area before making sure it was completely buffed off.

Have to say, I love the smell of this stuff. Lol.

Will update in the morning.

KC FSE is blinding gear, use it bundles. If fact it's so good I am unable to use all the other gear I have assembled.
At first I had the same issues as yourself, not to the same level. It is easier to use it as a QD and not try and do too much with it. Wipe it off with a clean towel and afterwards go over with a better towel and buff till your hearts content.
Windows can be difficult at times, that is usually the hot weather causing that.
Just go about the usual window cleaning routine after and all will be fine.

Thanks mate.

I checked it this morning and much better than last time so defo user error in trying to cover too much off the car before wiping away properly.

I have found it not to be good on windows, I only know this through overspray so stick to class cleaner but came off easily with glass cleaner.

I have kept a 1 litre bottle in the boot with fresh cloths in a bag
