Exclamation My car of the day, VW ID.3R

VW's new ID.3 will soon be hitting the showrooms and already VW are in the process of developing an R version and if it looks anything like this then it could prove to be a success. These renderings show a relatively conservative design and if VW spruce things up then it will make for a hatch befitting of an R badge. The differences are striking at the front, gone is the simple small grille on the front and in it's place sits a sharp and more complex grille with triangular shapes and fake cooling ducts for the brakes. Newly designed wheels that combine attractive design with efficient aerodynamics. Changes to the rear an't striking but do include a distinctive rear diffuser, a triangular F1 inspired rain light and triangular reflectors on the outer edges of the bumper. VW say that the ID.3R will launch within five years and will feature all wheel drive and some kind of performance focused electric motor.

I remember a thread on here which was along the lines of. Tesla's bubble will burst as soon as the main stream manufactures like VW etc catch up in the EV game.

I think that time has come!

Not sure what makes an R model, but Tesla's Model 3 does 0-60 in 3.2 secs and is available now.

I think the ID.3 will launch next year, the R who knows. I think this car will sell well as it will have an extensive dealer network, good range and prices under £40k.
I would certainly consider one to replace my daily car a PHEV.

if he tesla can do 0-6 as claimed only seems to happen when the media have them and then only a couple of times before they overheat, all marketing lies

I'm sure the VW will be a step forward and and R would get people interested, but I'd prefer better range and charge times rather than pointless figures on paper

Could do with a sleeker look IMO. VW sure like to make boxy looking cars.
