This is how my face looked as well but I knew it would be bad on fuel. I must add, those 67 miles were not gentle driving

Hi there

I just wanted to log and in say that you have a beautiful s600 there, which is a bit of an inspiration for the s600 I picked up towards the beginning of the year.

Similar kind of story to yours, one owner dealer serviced car all its life. Even the same colour and wheels, although probably has a few more miles than yours (about to roll onto 215k soon)

The AMG face lift utterly transforms the looks! I am very impressed! And the 21s are just perfect!

Well done, I hope you enjoy.

I had just a quick question regarding the engine mounts - How difficult where they to change? I've heard everything from I can do them in situ no probs, to the engine needs to come out, to the sub frame needs dropping just a tad. I'll be renting a ramp for when I do them, so I kinda want a heads up before starting.

Thank you

J

Hello J
Thank you very much and congratulations on buying an S600! Oh wow that's some miles, the previous owner must have spent some money on fuel doing all those miles but for a V12 engine that's still nothing, it would do another 250k no problem. There's a video of an older s600 w220 model with nearly 400k if I remember right and still drives like a 40k miles car.

As for the engine mounts, I've read every thread that was created for the s600 and like you say, some people say you need to take engine out, one ex Mercedes tech said it took him 13 hours. You won't believe how long it took me and my friend to get them done! We had the passenger side out in 15 mins and driver side in 45mins! I'm not kidding. The reason why one side took 45 mins was because we had to disconnect the steering column and drop the steering rack a little bit.
I will send you a private message step by step how we done it as I've been meaning to post a thread on Mercedes forum " How to " for other s600 owners that want to do the mounts themselves. If you were in London I'd change them or you.

Yes I don't look at the mpg often as the miles I put on are happy miles on an open road that is
The first time I put £50 fuel in it I got 67 miles I've stopped looking at how many miles I get now, just fill it up when it gets low
I just love it when people use there big motors in the correct way, look at the pump pay the £50 , start the car and listen to the magic and the £50 is forgotten about so quickly
I speak with experience with the V8 merc, its a pure joy to own

Thank you all for the lovely comments, means a lot!

Here's a quick video of the car if anyone is interested to hear what it sounds like with back boxes taken out. Since this video was taken the car was lowered at the back more as you've seen in the pics in the first page
