3 Stage Scholl Polish

Hello all,

I am getting my 10 year old Vauxhall Astra ready to sell by doing a 3 stage polish.

My plan is the usual full clean, decontaminate, clay etc. I will be using the In2Detailing Das 6 Pro.

The car is pretty heavily scratched all over so my plan is:

1. Use Scholl S3 Gold XXL with a Chemical Guys Orange Hex Quantum Pad (thought the Yellow one may be a little harsh). Not going to spend ages on this stage, more a light going over to get the worst off, dont want to strip to much clearcoat.

2. Use Scholl S17+ with a Chemical Guys White Hex Quantum Pad. Spend more time here getting it all to a really good level.

3. Finish with Scholl S40 with a Chemical Guys Black Hex Quantum Pad.

Then go onto Panel Wipe and Wax.

Does that sound reasonable, not overkill? Thanks all.

Might be a good idea to panel wipe between each stage so you can see where you're at.
I'm just a low experience weekend warrior, but I'd start with the least aggressive of the S3 and S17, and from memory it's the S17.

Hi, my plan was to buff it of in between compounds and use an inspection light and as you say if this is too hazy I will panel wipe it.

Did think about using the S17 first but then I will need to go and do the S3 next then S17 then S40 so it adds another stage (which I haven’t got much time for).

If you do a test area first with the S17 then you might find that you don't need to use the S3.
For the effort it takes a wipe over after each stage to ensure removal of any residue it's worth it IMHO.

To save you alot of time and money I did an o3 plate Corsa black. Used a white hex logic pad and S40 and it corrected it to at least 90% there would have been no need at all in a 3 stage. If anyone just as a one off could have maybe just went crazy with the S3 or s17+ then did a quick refine with the S40, but as said 3 stage from my experience on that is completely overkill for time money and results hope this helps you.

All, thanks for the advice, did some searches and it sounds like Vauxhall paint is medium/soft so as you say dropping the S3 would be sensible. I will just do the S17 and S40.
