Lotus in partnership with Radford have launched the John Player special and it's the third and most extreme variant of the line up. This coach built by Radford is Lotus derived sports car with a bespoke body sat on top. Radford has designed it's own rear sub-frame from tubular aluminium, creating that extended rear deck, but the one key difference to usual Lotus models is a bespoke carbon roof, windscreen and firewall structure that partially makes up the passenger cell. Powering the Type 62/2 is a supercharged 3.5 litre V6 engine available in three states of tune depending on the model with the standard model having 430 BHP, the Gold Leaf with 500 BHP and this JPS you see here with 600 BHP. JPS models develop their extra power from the use of reinforced pistons, conrods and camshafts joined by a larger supercharger. The engine is the same Toyota derived unit that's also fitted in the Evora and powers the rear wheels through a six speed manual gearbox or seven speed dual clutch auto.
I really like it, looks to me like a bit of old and new blended and that colour scheme still looks great.
