Hi all, not much been going on really, been enjoying the car and getting along with preventive maintenance etc until....
 AAARRRGGGHHHHH. The bloody tin-worms back! This boot lid has been stripped and repaired twice before, one the rust is in there’s really no way of killing it completely... so there’s only one thing for it....  The last new bootlid BMW UK had in stock... I need to wait until payday to order a new spoiler and badges but my body shop has it and is raring to go... watch this space folks.... More soon. Popped in today to find they’d started prepping the new boot lid. Today’s payday so I’m off I order more parts as soon as the dealers are open.

Badges and spoiler just dropped off at the painters, hopefully It'll be finished and fitted for next week.
Just ordered new number plates from a guy on FB (Pukar Designs) they will have the original @2001 Barrons of Farnborough dealer logo and script on them, well, why not? |

Got myself an M5...
Update. The new bootlid is on and looks very good
 Note the original supplying dealer plates (Barons of Farnborough) supplied by Pukar Designs, he can do all sorts of period plates and stickers, look him up on FB.  The next job was getting the crap out of the top of the tail lights, you see this lots on various BM’s and it always bugs me, so, lights out, bulbs out, stuff them with microfibres, APC along the top and give them a blast with the power washer. Sorted.  Don’t forget to clean and seal the light apertures whilst the lights are out.   Done!  Next was a good wash and a run over with the D/A (can’t remember what I used now!) then a coat of Fusso Dark followed by two coats of Autoglym HD Wax. I also got some genuine BMW showroom plates from the dealer. These are very light and a couple of blobs of blue tack holds them nicely.  We had a trip to Bimmerfest at Gorinchem, awesome show and a ‘must do’ from now-on. I put it through the concors but didn’t get anywhere being up agains proper show cars. On the boat (Pride of Hull)  Judging.  Since then it’s been treated to new front discs and pads with rebuilt callipers and an oil change.  Ferodo DS 2500 pads. Awesome. Secondhand brake callipers, blasted then rebuilt with new pistons and seals.   And a few coats of spray Hammerite.  It would be rude not to properly clean the wheels while they are off..  Job done.  Oil change time. Shell Helix Ultra 10-60 and Bosch Filter. It’s only done 4600 miles from the last change but these need doing every 5k or annually to protect the Vanos system.  Next on the list is a wheel refurb for the two LHS wheels. Anyone coming to cars in the park at Lichfield tomorrow please come and say hello! More soon folks.
