Question In car phone mounts

Some of the top rated phone mounts for in car are using strong magnets. This might be a daft question but I’ve always thought it best to keep strong magnets away from batteries??
Secondly, as and when you mount the thing with a sticky pad, does this ruin the dash material?

I want a mount for my Xperia Z5 but I'm not sure whether to go for vent, dash or another kind of mount. Any recommends?

I've just received two of these... You can use suction mount, or clip onto the air vent

I'll never use them here as I leave my phone in my pocket and connect to the car with bluetooth. I've just purchased them for our road trip later in the year to have SatNav on and maybe an extra camera.

I think a company called Brodit (?) used to make a good method of attaching phones. Take a look!

I used to have a brodit mount for my celica. The bracket would screw in behind the head unit so when you remove it it didn't leave any marks on your dash, and then you would attach a holder of your choice to it.

On my current car I use a Kenu air vent. Served me well for 5 odd years and still use it

I use kenu airframes ( or cheap eBay copies ) in several cars, they work perfectly and have never had a phone make a bid for freedom, nor have I had one leave any marks on either phone or car.

They're not suitable for all air vents though, so won't fit all cars on the market, but are fine with all of ours.

add me to the "fan" list for Brodit , both the mounting clips and the Active phone/device specific holders,

used them for Years over many phones and cars, far far better imho than some generic "grips it" holder, BUT you do need to not use a case with the phone, 12v ign switched feed to the hardwire's ones, safe secure phone mount with charge connector in exactly the right spot,

Thanks for all your input guys. I think I’m going to go for the airframe first of all and see how I get on.
I was looking at the Brodit mounts but I couldn’t work out which one would be best suited to my car. There seems to be many different designs, some more specific than others

I use a sticky mount. Bottom right-hand corner of the windscreen.
You can mount bottom right-hand corner or bottom centre.
Any higher & it's illegal.
How people get away with a Phone & a sat Nav at the interior mirror hight is beyond me.
Have you checked out, " Mobile fun " Phone mounts for all shape & sizes
