Tractor caused stone chip...

Hello all,

Just wanted people's thoughts on this.

Was on my way to work this morning when a tractor turned out of a field and was coming towards me. There was mud and stones flicking out of the tyres so I slowed down and moved as far across as I could.

As it came passed mud and stones flicked all over my car and when I have got to work, there is damage to my driver's door. (There was no safe space to pull over before getting to work).

Does anyone think I can get anywhere with this or I just need to suck it up and pay for it myself? The car is a week old and annoyingly don't have my dash cam in there yet as I didn't have the correct fuse tap!

Thanks,

Ben

You've got no chance without evidence. Tractors are a pain, living rural I'm behind them quite often and have to keep a fair distance behind to avoid the crap flicked off the tyres. You can watch it like slow motion fly into the air and come back down. Tipper trucks are another one a don't like sitting behind, you can see gravel falling through the back flap like a seive.

Thanks for the reply.

I thought it would be the case. I was going to pop in to the farm on my way back and have a chat with them if possible and see what they say but I can imagine it won't go that well!

I'm from Devon so feel your pain, but I wouldn't go talk to the farmer. Like you say I doubt it will go well.

Thanks for the replies. I have ordered a touch up stick to see if I can get it looking acceptable. If not, I will have to get it resprayed.

Just hard to swallow when the car is so new!

Get a spot repair done by a professional, no need for a full respray. You won't know it has ever been chipped.
