Peugeot 309 GTi restoration

Still plodding away with the underside on this.
January saw the arrival of my firstborn so since getting the car back from Danny its really been left on the back seat of daily life.

Fortunately I’ve managed to get back into it again in the last few weeks.

Passenger side of the rear is now rust free and nicely coated in Bilt Hamber Electrox.

Once the drivers side is done I’ll do the seam sealant and stone chip within a few days, then finally the reassembly can begin

Loved reading through the this, my first car was a 309 style with the Talbot 1.3l engine. I so wanted a GTi but couldn't afford one, so did mine up to look like one. Full interior, Inc steering and gear knob, wheels, bumpers rubber whale tale, spax suspension, peco exhaust - loved it!!

Keep it coming

Evening folks,

I’ve managed to sneak a few hours over the last few weeks, a great portion of my rear end resto efforts are nearing completion.

Here’s the fruits of my labour

Next up then is to finish the box section above the rear beam on the drivers side.
I did get most of it done last year before it went to Danny’s for welding so it shouldn’t take too long

Well..... originally I hoped to have it roadworthy at least within 12 months of buying it. So I’m slightly overdue on that date
I do think that if I crack on with it over winter now that I’ve got some momentum going again then I should get some drive time by next summer.

I will plan to use it for a bit to enjoy what I’ve achieved so far before I seek to get the bodywork resprayed

Making good progress on that drivers side section. The Deox gel is working wonders as usual.

Just a few localised areas left to shift, its made a bit quicker by scraping the bulk of the remaining rust ‘scabs’ off with a small scribe then leaving the Deox to finish up.

A couple more coats of Deox then I should be good to go with coating it all
