Okaaaaaay then so as in my previous thread the saxo is now my brothers car as he needed a car for his fiancee to learn to drive in and i fancied an upgrade haha

This car came about after doing some late night ebay browsing (probably should be banned from the car sales pages [emoji23]). I happened to come across a car that i have been wanting since they first came out, this one being the right spec the right price and 1 owner i just couldnt resist viewing it so off i went to the dealership and there it was in the indoor showroom looking amazing :D, one road test and i had to have it so i bought it there and then.

So the car in question is this (picture taken moments after signing the papers )

Its a 2009 clio rs200 cup, a full cup so light weight everything no real mod cons just you a steering wheel and an engine [emoji7]

As soon as i got it home i had to give it a good wash as there "valeters" really want sacking lol

Next i put my private plate on it (must be a keeper lol)

Next up it had a little knock when pulling off or changing gears which turned out to be the top stabiliser mount on the engine so thought id upgrade it to stop it happening again
This is the arm/ bush which had worn

So simply knock the securing tab off with a hammer and screwdriver and the bush falls out easily

Heres all the parts to the new kit

And all assembled

And back in the car

Sooo much better now, though i do want to change the lower engine mount for a polybush too as theres still a little too much movement

Next up i decided to carbon wrap the badges
Before

After

Fitted

And the rear

And then fitted a sunstrip as these cars have massive windscreens

The saxo and clio together

Then i removed the rear wiper as i really wasnt a fan of it on the back of the clios

Had to cut it off as it was seized on lol

Motor removed

Glass plug for the hole

Looks loads better :D

Next up i clayed the whole car and jeez was this thing contaminated [emoji849] there was a lot of what looked like iron in the paint and white overspray on the windows, safe to say it looks a lot whiter now haha

Next up i got tired of the gearknob which is straight out of a megane and feel aweful so i found a tidy replacement while browsing in halfords lol

So removed the old one

Fitted the collar to the gearstick and the new gearknob screws straight on

Absolute 100% improvement to the gear changes it just feels so much nicer haha

I also attempted to clean the recaros though i only got one done [emoji23]

So thas is all for now, the car is back at the dealership currently as it developed the usual crunchy gearbox so its getting rebuilt under warrenty so im
Stuck with a dirty brown 1.2 corsa for a while [emoji23]

So progress will continue when the clio returns [emoji41]

Lucky it's getting fixed in warranty rather than after you've had it a year. Keep an eye out on the swivel joints. There prone to going and it's an expensive job if they need replacing.
Yeah haha would have been quite an expensive job if i had to get ot sorted so lucky its showed up when it did, and i need to check those to be fair and i need to check my flexis as there is a slight exhaust blow from somewhere 🤔

It has got a little spoiler at the moment its a K tec racing sprint spoiler which came on the car and to be fair was one of the reasons i was drawn to it haha, not too keen on the akra exhaust to be fair its really over priced and sounds too tinny for me, i much prefer the scorpion resonated cat back system which is going to be on the cards 😎

The gearbox developed a crunch in 2nd 3rd and 4th so its currently back at the dealers getting rebuilt lol

There is one of these for sale on piston head for 11k and some has fitted a megane RS engine and gearbox so I believe and been modded which now produces 300bhp!!

Nice car. Looking forward for regular updates :)

11k wow must be some machine :D id love to put the megane engine in but maybe not anytime soon as the n/a drives well enough 😂 if i get bored i may convert it haha

Nice car Jim, :thumb:

Like you I wanted a RS200 when they came out, and we have a LY one as you'll see in my avatar. (had it about 15 months)

Lovely car, plenty of shove, Recaros are great, handling really good.
Gearbox is a weak point in general.

Mine is good, 50k on a 12 plate, I've replaced the gearbox oil with ELF NFP just for peace of mind. Only issue I have is the shift is stiff into 1st when the car is cold.
Once warm it is as slick as you like.
This is normal according to the usual forum members.

I see you have the optional black speed line alloys too instead of the standard cup wheels :)

Hope the garage sorts your crunch out. I guess if they're rebuilding some of it that they will be replacing the synchro rings. I think they are brass from factory.

Oooh i do love liquid yellow, when the sun hits it its beyond gorgeous 😍
My clios on 68k on an 09 plate so id say similar milage ive heard its luck of the draw weather the gearbox goes or not haha, the garage said there removing the gearbox and sending it to a place called intergear which is a gearbox specialist for a complete rebuild so fingers crossed should be good ill deffinetly be putting some quality oil in when i get it back haha

And yeah i love the speedlines over the original cup alloys but they do need 20-25mm spacers as there incredibly buried in the arch lol

Recaros are deffinetly lovely seats though hard to get in and out of and creak so much on cornering lol

Im tempted by a sprint booster but the car is getting remapped to try and get rid of the 2.5-3k flat spot so may see how responsive it is after that first :D

Well still got the ever so boring and slow brown corsa of doom haha really cant wait to get the clio back [emoji23] in other news i did attend the mini show today :D

There were some gorgeous cars there and i now have many new ideas for my mini [emoji7]

Some stunning cars there, i need to update the thread about my mini one day [emoji23] mine is currently at the bodyshop as its finally in its finishing stages and nearly ready for paint so i should be getting that back in a couple of months and i can finally start work on it again haha

Just a little update [emoji56]

Well finally got the clio back haha its sooo nice to drive now much improved [emoji41] put it on the ramp at work to check everything's okay and this car is mint underneath so I'm well chuffed haha seems I've actually bought a decent car [emoji23]

Ive ordered some decent gear oil as no doubt they've just banged any old oil in the gearbox to send it out lol so will be changing that out soon :D

Very very very nice Jim. I wanted one of these after having a 182 and two 172’s but never since been able to get one sadly. I imagine it’s a massive grin machine, my 182 certainly was!
What are the overall plans for this? I read about the remap. Also good job on noticing the gearbox while it was in warranty. I had an Abarth a few years ago that I had to have the gearbox rebuilt on because the garage were a bunch of cowboys.

Haha thanks mate it does put a massive smile on my face when i drive it :D

Plans are to make it mint also lower around 30/40 mm and space the wheels out a bit as there lost in the arches lol also i want a scorpion resonated exhaust, a port matched inlet manifold and a better air filter insert should hopefully get it close to 200bhp if not a couple over should drive a bit better too as these are terrible for flat spots and kangarooing lol

Not much done as its been freezing haha

Just given it a good clean as the technicians had left oily hand marks everywhere also a scratch on the rear diffuser [emoji849]

Also cleaned the drivers seat as i didnt do it before because i knew they'd just get it dirty haha

And after

Looks a bit darker than the other seat as it was damp still but a lot nicer lol
